Winter’s Back

How wrong can you get?

Spring has most definitely not sprung in the icy north, the snow is back and falling quick heavily at the moment. Arran has turned white again and Arran Cam is now up and running so you can see for yourself. It should update every few minutes whenever the PC happens to be turned on.

Yesterday was a bit of a nightmare, the power was on and off most of the morning and when it came back broadband was out for the rest of the day. On top of that we’ve got a leaky roof, I think mainly because the prevailing wind has been from the North East during the storms of the last day or two – which means it’s hitting the back of the house rather the front which usually takes the brunt of the bad weather.

As luck would have it yesterday was also the day work ported our mobiles from T-Mobile to Vodafone – now you don’t get a good signal on Vodafone at the best of times, but yesterday all the networks were down thanks to the power cuts so I had to go into Irvine to find a signal to activate the new Blackberry. I use the word new in its loosest possible sense having been upgraded from an 8900 on T-Mobile to an 8310 on Vodafone – feels like I’ve gone back in time three years. Maybe I should sell those banking shares, I sense trouble in the markets.

Oh and it turns out I can do worse than Mark Lawrenson, managing a less than impressive 3 out of 10 on the Premier League predictions – I’ll try harder this week…

Spring has Sprung

It’s a lovely sunny Saturday morning in West Kilbride, the snow is almost gone from the top of Goat Fell and we’re long overdue an update. Its been the busiest couple of months work wise I can remember in a long time, and another upgrade looms this weekend, but the next few weeks look to be calming down a bit – and then its not long until we’re off to Canada.

A lot has been crammed into the last two months, not least Megan’s birthday (can’t believe she’s eight) and her first dance exams (passed with flying colours). She’s also doing really well with her piano lessons and Angela’s narrowly avoided becoming Brown Owl for Megan’s Brownies group – she’s still helping out and is taking her first group through their Brownie Promise next week. Megan’s already made her promise and collected badges for Music, Entertainment and Chocolate – can’t think who she takes after?

Angela’s car has been in to get its accelerator fixed, and the Audi had it’s first service last week – much cheaper than a service on the Volvo at Parks, and the interval between services was almost twice that of the V70. Full marks to Glasgow Audi for supplying a complementary bacon sarnie whilst i waited too.

The Pools predictions went by the wayside a bit, just not had time to study the fixtures, so I’m going to concentrate on their Premier10 game that just includes the weeks Premiership games – winners in bold, draws in italics.

Arsenal vs West Ham
Aston Villa vs Wolves
Blackburn vs Chelsea
Everton vs Bolton
Fulham vs Man City
Man Utd vs Liverpool
Portsmouth vs Hull
Stoke vs Tottenham
Sunderland vs Birmingham
Wigan A vs Burnley

I can’t do any worse than Mark Lawrenson surely ?
